Honda has been very successful with the Indian automobile market. Whatever car the manufacturer has come out with has been successful. Not a rip-roaring success but comfortably competitive. All versions of the City did well, won lots of awards, self-proclaimed awards, etc. Now Honda has launched Jazz, a hatchback but not a small car as most thought it to be as in India the concept of hatchbacks is uncommon. Beautiful looking car, haven’t had the chance to drive it so can not comment on the ride quality. Hope I do it soon. But whoever came up with the tagline was a little uncreative or super-lazy. The tagline ‘Why so serious?’ has been directly lifted from the movie ‘The Dark Knight’ mouthed by ‘The Joker’ played by Heath Ledger. ‘Why so Serious?’ was also the tagline of the movie as well. Now, there is a mismatch between the Joker and the Jazz. The Joker is an evil, deranged and a psychotic villain and the Jazz is a car. How about an evil, deranged and a psychotic car? Those who haven’t seen the movie may not even read the tagline twice and those who have, will display mixed emotions as I did when I saw the Jazz’s ad for the 1st time. Now I feel like watching the movie again.
Why so Serious?
